What Does RPC Heat Pressed™ Mean?

Heat pressing is related to the production of felt rug pads, to also include felt and rubber non slip pads. Felt fibers are first needle punched together to form the actual pad; this means reaching the desired density and thickness. Once the pad is formed, the last process involves the method used to prevent the felt from shedding or breaking down. Most manufacturers apply a clear adhesive coating to each side of the felt pad – This dries and keeps the felt intact so that it will not shed. Instead, of this, Rug Pad Corner utilizes an intense Heat Pressing Process. To better understand this, imagine the process of ironing something – In the case of our felt rug pad, the heat is used to press the felt together. The result is a felt padding that is reinforced against possible shedding. Based on the Heat Pressing, there will not be any adhesive or glues in our rug pads.

Our other felt rug pad, the Ultra Premium non slip version, contains a layer of natural rubber against the felt. In other similar pads, the rubber is either glued to the felt or applied by spray, in the form of latex. Instead of this, we Heat Press the layer of rubber to the felt, again avoiding adhesive or glues. The result is a felt and rubber non slip rug pad that is intact with heat and will not smell, off-gas or damage the floor.
