We do not. Instead, we utilize an intense Heat Pressing Process that is like literally ironing the layer of rubber to the felt. The Surface – We take recycled felt and needle punch it into a dense composition. The felt then undergoes a process to give it the distinct texture seen in the picture. The texture works to prevent lateral movement of your rug in any direction, keeping it to the pad under any use. Since it’s a 48 ounce density, the felt resists all pressure that can penetrate through to affect rug and floor.

The Backing – A solid layer of real rubber is heat pressed to the felt jute to create stability and longevity. Unlike others, our rubber is not glued on. Because ours is a solid rubber permanently attached to the felt, it will not break down and harm floors like rug pads with a sprayed on latex or “rubber-like” material. The ounces refer to the density level and Superior is as dense as they come. So, imagine 40 ounces of fiber are packed per every square yard of rug pad. Where did the green color come from?

While manufacturing Super Hold, we knew it looked like all other “mesh” looking rug pads, yet those are PVC (plastic), from China and full of chemicals. So, what could we do to let people know that ours is different with all natural rubber without chemicals? How about changing its color? That’s when we decided to add a natural Green colored vegetable dye – now Super Hold does look different than others, because it is!

Natural rubber made in the USA

Super Hold Rug Pad is made in the USA of 100% natural untreated rubber. We use actual rubber from the tree and turn it into this non-slip rug pad. Not to be confused with similar mesh looking rug pads of plastic and adhesives, Super Hold is natural and does not off-gas or stick to the floor. Unlike other mesh looking rug pads, Super Hold does not contain additives, so it is not sticky to the touch. For this reason, it will not stick to, mark or transfer to your floor.

So specific that it’s only meant for use on carpet

The Surface – 100% recycled felt is needle punched together into a 45 ounce density. The felt is placed up against back of rug and works to resist any penetration to the carpet – heavy foot steps and furniture cannot push through the rug. When No-Muv resists this pressure, it prevents your rug wrinkling and buckling. At 1/4″ thick, No-Muv is able to resist anything that comes across it.

The Backing – The same recycled felt goes through a special pressing process – the result is a very stiff backing that contains a fine texture. The stiffness acts to prevent further penetration to the floor, while the texture works to grab to and hold the carpet – this is meant to prevent any area rug from creeping, walking or slipping. Since it is made of natural felt, No-Muv does not transfer to or stain the carpet underneath – it is even hypoallergenic and mold and mildew resistant.

What about those thin sticky pads?

Other pads that claim to work on carpet are very thin and sticky. Unfortunately, these do not work because the pad sinks to the floor with any pressure, defeating the function of a rug to rug pad.
